SBTi status: Targets approved in July 2022
Softcat was an early mover on SBTi, becoming the first IT company in Europe to have its targets approved in July 2022.
The UK’s largest reseller has committed to slashing Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions by 45% by 2030 (from a base year of 2021), and by 90% by 2040, making it net zero.
At the time of the £2.5bn-sales, LSE-listed firm’s 2022 ESG Report, some 21% of its vehicle fleet was electric.
Estimated Co2e footprint (fiscal 2022): Scope 1: 229 tonnes, Scope 2: 334 tonnes, Scope 3: 383,018 tonnes (Total: 383,581 tonnes)
EcoVadis progress
According to its 2022 ESG Report, Softcat maintained Silver status with EcoVadis for FY 2022, and is aiming to achieve Gold status “in the next few years”.
What they said:
“It is fantastic that we have officially had our targets approved as this keeps us laser-focused and motivated to drive change in our own organisation and work with our partners, supply chain, and customers on their social responsibility journey through the technology we provide,” Softcat chairman Graeme Watt (pictured above)
Distinctive detail
In an effort to take its net zero learnings to customers, Softcat last year launched Enexo, a sustainability platform designed to give UK organisations accurate carbon emissions intelligence.
