‘It plays to my strengths’ – Angela Whitty reveals Agilitas move

"I just felt it was something I wanted to be involved in"

Angela Whitty has become Non-Executive Director at Agilitas in a move she says “played into my strengths”.

Having stepped down as Ampito CEO in September, the former Cisco channel boss was on the hunt for new part-time roles where she could continue to add value to the industry.

Talking to IT Channel Oxygen, Whitty said she was tempted to link up with Nottingham-based channel services provider Agilitas after meeting with CEO-in-waiting Sara Wilkes.

“We hadn’t met before, but I was aware of her and vice versa. Agilitas is a long-standing and strong brand in the channel marketplace, and I was caught up by her passion and vision for what Agilitas could be,” she said.

“It played to my strengths. I spent a long time in service delivery and channel operations, and I just felt it was something I wanted to be involved in.”

“Aggressive growth plans”

Known for its focus on inventory management, Agilitas logged revenues of £17.7m in its most recently filed accounts for the year to 31 March 2023.

Whitty rubbed shoulders with Agilitas while at Cisco (latterly as its Managing Director, UKI Partner Organisation), and outsourced some services to it during her two-and-a-half-year stint leading cyber and networking solutions provider Ampito.

Wilkes has “aggressive” growth plans for the Perwyn-backed outfit, Whitty said.

“Partners are seeing that they need to play to their strengths and partner in areas that aren’t part of their core mission,” she said.

“That’s what will make them successful in 2025 and beyond, and I believe the plans Sara has at Agilitas can play into that.”

Whitty is the latest big hitter to join Agilitas following its recruitment of Gary Lomas as CRO in November and Kirsty Walker as CFO this month.

The recent additions of former SCC pairing Wilkes and Michelle Would as CEO and COO, respectively, means Agilitas is majority female led.

“To have a female CEO, CFO and COO – that’s quite interesting,” Whitty said.

“This wasn’t the sole reason I joined, but it’s quite unique to see.

“Gary finds himself in a situation where he’s outnumbered, and I think it’s quite refreshing to work in an environment like that,” Whitty said.

“They’re all really passionate ladies. Sara has put together a great team that I’m excited to be a part of.”
