“It doesn’t suddenly change everything overnight”

Mark Robertson, CEO, Acumen Cyber
There’s a lot being said about Mythos, but from where we sit it doesn’t suddenly change everything overnight.
What it does do is increase speed and accessibility. The techniques aren’t new, but the barrier to executing them is lower, and they can be done faster and at greater scale. That’s the bit that matters, because it raises the baseline of what an attacker can do.
For most organisations, this will just expose existing weaknesses. If your security operations are already slow, manual, or overly reliant on people to join the dots, you’ll feel that pressure more quickly.
At the moment, the impact is much more obvious on the offensive side than the defensive. So the focus for most organisations shouldn’t be chasing the latest AI capability, but making sure their fundamentals are solid and their ability to detect and respond keeps pace.
So it’s not doomsday and it’s not something to ignore. It’s another step forward that will reward those who are already evolving and make life harder for those who aren’t.
