“It’s the start of a challenging time for cybersecurity teams”

Mark Taylor, CTO, Chorus
I think if [the claims around Mythos are] true, it’s going to be the start of a busy and challenging time for software engineering and cybersecurity teams – and that’s just for well maintained and supported products and those organisations with good cyber hygiene. Well-chained exploits based on combinations of software vulnerabilities represent a high risk.
However, I am even more concerned about organisations with older systems. It just isn’t possible or practical for everyone to move to the latest and greatest overnight, and this category of organisation is at particular risk of being hit hard by a very rapid and capable software vulnerability exploitation system.
It remains an “if” for now. But given the industry’s long-standing challenges with patching exploits quickly and consistently, something so well aligned to making the most of that shortcoming is not likely to be a positive story, or at least not in the short-term.
