6. Homegrown hero hoovered up for £100m

When? July
Exertis IT’s new owner can “give us the attention we deserve”, its CEO asserted as he revealed there were multiple private equity and trade buyers hovering during its sale process.
FTSE 100 firm DCC Group in July announced it has agreed to sell Exertis IT (which ranked 3rd in IT Channel Oxygen’s most-recent Top 50 Must-Know UK IT Distributors) to private equity house AURELIUS for an enterprise value of around £100m.
The deal – which is set to close this Autumn – includes Exertis UK Business and Consumer, Hypertec, Exertis Supplies, Exertis Ireland, Macro EV, Exertis Supply Chain Services, MTR and Ztorm.
“DCC had lots of other distractions, and wanted to focus elsewhere,” Exertis IT CEO Tim Griffin told IT Channel Oxygen.
“Although they’ve been brilliant owners, having somebody who is really vested in our success and giving us the attention we deserve is really important.”
DCC Technology plans to sell its remaining £2.7bn-revenue business in 2026, CEO Clive Fitzharris told IT Channel Oxygen last month.
It comprises North American pro-audio and AV brands JAM and Almo, Exertis Enterprise (formerly Hammer) and Exertis Cloud in the UK, and specialist AV and infrastructure businesses in Europe.
“We’re the largest pro-AV distributor globally and the largest pro-audio distributor, and have a number of other leadership positions in various markets,” Fitzharris explained.
