2. GenAI changes the game

Impact rating: 9/10

Despite being surprisingly hard to say out loud (go on, try it), GenAI was the buzzword on everyone’s lips in 2023.

Vendor CEOs were queuing up to declare it the biggest paradigm shift in a generation. ServiceNow boss Bill McDermott, for instance, billed it “as transformative, if not even more so, than the Internet or even the iPhone”.

Some analysts are predicting that the GenAI partner opportunity could swell to over $150bn by 2028.

But is GenAI more than just hype? Some of those present at Canalys Forum 2023 in Barcelona in October were far from convinced.

That said, some partners are already generating tangible sales from GenAI.

Google partner Ancoris told IT Channel Oxygen this month that it has already clocked up close to £1m in GenAI services revenues after launching a dedicated practice in June.

As this round up showcased, some partners are investing heavily or acquiring in the GenAI space, while others are using GenAI to streamline internal processes including sales. Transputec built an AI chatbot it is now productising, meanwhile.

Satya Nadella at Microsoft Inspire 2023

Microsoft made its hotly anticipated Copilot available to enterprises on 1 November (read the Copilot diary of one of its users here).

Microsoft partners including SoftwareOne and Wanstor are counting on its imminent launch to the midmarket to stimulate further customer interest in 2024.
