B Corp “seemed like a natural fit” for this Bristol-based MSP, its MD Gildas Jones tells us below.
From its base near Temple Meads, Dial A Geek provides IT support to businesses with 20-plus staff in Bristol, South West, and across the UK.
Gaining the badge cost “too much” and took “too long”, Jones adds, however.
Q&A with Dial A Geek founder and MD Gildas Jones

What was your main reason for becoming a B Corp?
We’ve always been a very ethical company and tried to do the right thing, whether that is treating staff and clients well or considerations of our carbon footprint. So for us B Corp seemed like a natural fit.
B Corp is perhaps best associated with consumer goods brands. Does it really make sense for an MSP or IT solutions provider to have it?
I think the B Corp logo is more visible on these consumer goods, hence assuming that is the case. It’s up to the individual company if this is right for them.
What’s the main benefit of becoming a B Corp
I’m not sure there are many direct benefits. It wasn’t something we did from a increasing the bottom-line standpoint. It was just a way to align our values to an accreditation.
How much time and money did it take?
Too much and too long is the short answer here. It takes a lot of effort to measure and report on all the business aspects that need to be captured, essentially evidencing what you claim to do.
